Serving Others = Constant Leadership Growth

September 28, 2010 § Leave a comment

“Be specific”, as Tom Peters says, and state how, in the past twenty-four hours, you have served someone within whom you lead. It’s a daunting challenge for some, to be sure. But it is not as hard as people make it to be.

Some examples:

  • Listening
  • Listening and asking follow-up questions
  • Empathizing
  • Encourage someone and telling them why
  • Asking a hard, but necessary question, that opens a hard, but necessary conversation
  • Showing up
  • Being present
  • Being human

What would you add to the list?
